Must Read

Street food in India is an adventure for every food lover, offering a delicious paradise on the go! Street food vendors take it up a notch by experimenting with diverse food items, and transforming familiar dishes into exciting novelties. Take the “dosa sandwich,” for example. Adding to the excitement, we are eagerly awaiting the release of SRK’s latest movie, ‘Dunki,’ and the buzz is contagious. Meanwhile, a recent culinary discovery by a food vlogger in Mumbai has added to the culinary charm – a street stall serving a delightful twist with the “Dunki burger idli.”

In the viral video, a street vendor skillfully combines various vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and cabbage. He adds a mix of spices, mayonnaise, ketchup, green chutney, and other sauces to create a flavourful mashed potato mixture. Pausing to include a generous amount of butter, he continues to mash the ingredients, producing a seasoned mashed potato blend.

Taking innovation further, the vendor takes idli, slices it in half to form “burger buns”, and substitutes traditional ketchup with a medley of South Indian chutneys, including some coconut and green chutney. Grating cheese over the idli buns, he layers the previously prepared mashed potato mixture as the patty, finishing it off with a dollop of mayonnaise. To enhance the visual appeal, he grates carrots over the creation, folds the idli buns on top of each other, and voila – the idli burger is ready to be served, accompanied by sides of sambhar.
